Found a surprise in some old boards that wrecked my circular saw
I was cutting into some reclaimed oak for a custom shelf project. Halfway through, there was a loud bang and sparks flew out. I hit a hidden nail I didn't see! It chipped the blade and sent shards everywhere. My saw is okay, but it could have been much worse. From now on, I run a metal detector over any wood that isn't brand new. It's a small step that prevents big headaches. Trust me, taking that extra minute can save your tools and your safety.

Watched my buddy hit a hidden nail that made his blade just explode.

How bad was the damage to the saw itself?

Blade's toast. Check the arbor for bends first.
