Just realized my "passion project" side gig cost me $3,000 in missed overtime

I spent 6 months last year building a custom furniture business out of my garage in Cleveland, sold exactly 2 tables, and lost out on $3,000 in OT pay my boss was practically begging me to take has anyone else chased a dream and ended up poorer and exhausted?

That whole "you can't put a price on it" thing is exactly the trap, right? I've noticed people use that line to justify almost any big mistake, from bad relationships to bad business moves. It's like we'd rather pretend there's some secret valuable lesson than admit we blew $3,000 and a bunch of sleep on two tables. The real lesson is probably that passion projects are fine, but only if you treat them like a hobby with a firm budget, not a side hustle that eats your rent money.

Wow, I bet you ended up with two really solid tables out of that though. That's something you can't put a price on because every time someone sees them they'll know you built those with your own hands. Did you at least get some good woodworking skills you can use later on?
