Warning: a $9 tarp from the hardware store beat my $60 camping tarp in one windy night at Priest Lake
I camped at Priest Lake in Idaho two weekends back and a gust ripped the grommets clean out of my fancy tarp around 2am. I ended up lashing a cheap blue hardware store tarp over the tent with paracord and it held through 30 mph winds until morning. The expensive one has maybe 6 nights on it and it's already trash. Now I want to know if I just got a bad one or if this is normal. What tarps are you all actually using that survive real wind?
