Took 90 minutes to realize the tent pole bag had a false bottom
Set up my new 4-person tent at Lost Lake last Saturday and the rain fly pole was nowhere in the main bag, so I tore through my truck and every pocket for an hour while the mosquitos had a feast. Finally looked inside the pole bag again and there was a hidden zippered compartment underneath, the pole had been in there the whole time. Has anyone else found secret stash spots in gear that made you feel like an absolute fool?

Fast way to find out if it's actually a problem is to set it up in the living room first. That's what I did with my last tent and found a missing stake in about two minutes, not two hours. The false bottom thing sounds like a weird design choice though. Maybe they did it to keep the poles from jabbing the bag material, who knows. At least you found it before dark, could've been worse.
