Rain fly on my $80 tent held up in 4 straight days of Oregon rain, but my buddy's $300 one leaked
Went camping near Bend last month and it rained nonstop for 4 days, my cheap tent stayed bone dry while his fancy one had a puddle by the second morning. He kept saying the price tag meant better materials but the seams on his fly were clearly the problem. So do you trust the price or the actual waterproof rating when you're buying, and has a cheap piece of gear ever beaten your expensive stuff in the field?

Seam sealing on that fly matters way more than price tag, learned that after my $40 tarp outlasted a fancy brand.
