My buddy swore by a 20 degree bag for Colorado but I froze

My friend Jake told me his 20 degree sleeping bag was perfect for summer in the Rockies, so I bought one for a trip near Breckenridge. Night temps dropped into the 30s and I was so cold I barely slept. Turns out his idea of 'summer' is August, and I went in June. Anyone have a solid bag rec for early season mountain camping?

Man, that's rough. Been there with a bag that just couldn't hack it. Those early season nights in the mountains are no joke, totally different from peak summer. A 20 degree bag in 30 degree weather is basically asking to shiver all night. I'd look for something rated for 10 degrees or even lower for real comfort in June.

Check the bag's actual survival rating, not just its comfort rating.
