Got caught in a freak hailstorm on the Appalachian Trail last month near Pinkham Notch

My trusty old rain fly held up fine but the tent poles started bending under the weight of hail piling up, so I had to use my hiking poles to prop everything up from inside. Did I get lucky or should I swap to a four-season tent for shoulder season hikes?

Honestly, sounds like you MacGyvered that thing better than any tent I've ever fixed.

@riley_coleman8 I gotta disagree with you on that one, MacGyver had a Swiss Army knife and duct tape, not whatever nylon nightmare you're calling a fix. In my experience, a proper patch kit beats a "clever" repair every time, your mileage may vary.
