A guy at the REI in Denver showed me my tent stakes were the whole problem
I was at the REI in Denver last Saturday returning a sleeping pad when some guy in the parking lot saw my tent setup and asked what stakes I was using. I told him the thin ones that came in the bag, and he pulled out a handful of thick 9 inch aluminum ones and said "try these on that hard ground up in Rocky Mountain National Park." I'd been fighting my tent for two seasons up there, bending stakes every trip, and it was just because I was using the cheap skinny ones on rocky soil. Swapped them out and pitched in like 5 minutes last weekend. What stake length do you all use when the ground is mostly rock and roots?
