Warning: A simple Canon AE-1 shutter curtain replacement took me almost 8 hours

The replacement curtain itself was fine, but the old adhesive from the original curtain left a gummy residue all over the shutter box frame. I had to carefully clean every single millimeter with isopropyl and a plastic scraper for hours before the new one would seat properly. Has anyone else found a faster way to deal with that old adhesive mess?

Try a little bit of Goo Gone on a cotton swab for the stubborn adhesive spots.

Eight hours is a new record for a simple fix. At that point, I'd just start calling the camera my new roommate.
