A customer's simple comment about my workbench changed my whole flow

I was fixing a Canon AE-1 last week and the guy watched me hunt for a tiny screw for a full minute. He just said, 'You need a magnetic tray, man, it's a lifesaver.' I felt silly because I have one, but it was buried under junk. Now I keep it clean and right in front, and I haven't lost a part since. How do you guys keep your bench from eating small parts?

What's the dumbest place you've found a lost part? My buddy swore he lost a spring for good, only to find it stuck to the bottom of his coffee mug a week later. He keeps a big bright orange parts tray now and says if it's not in the tray, he doesn't set it down.

That parts tray rule is a total game changer!
