Showerthought: a 22 year old helper on a job in Boise asked why I still tone out every drop, and his reason for skipping it stuck with me
I was training a new guy in Boise and he asked why I bother toning out every line before I crimp anything, since a cheap tester beeps either way. He said his old crew only toned when a job came back, which saved them about 20 minutes a house and cost them a callback maybe one time in 10. Made me wonder if I am just slow or if the old habit is still worth it.
