Took me 4 hours to figure out a 15 minute hinge problem

So I was installing inset doors on a kitchen cab job last week (you know, the kind where the gaps have to be perfect or you'll hear about it forever). I spent nearly 4 hours messing with the hinge cups, trying to get the doors to sit flush and not rub on the face frame. Turns out the screws I was using were just a hair too long, so the hinge plate wasn't sitting flat. I swapped them out for shorter ones and everything lined up in like 15 minutes. Felt like a complete idiot, but hey, that's how you learn I guess. Anyone else ever chase a problem for ages only to find it was something super simple like this?

@lucasking nailed it, 1mm can make or break your whole afternoon.

Read an article that said most cabinet hinge problems are usually just a 1mm screw length difference. Sound about right for your situation.
