I was dead set against using Blum soft close hinges until I did a favor for a friend

For years I told customers it was a gimmick and a waste of money. Then a friend asked me to help with his kitchen remodel in Portland. He had the Blum 110 degree hinges and I installed 15 of them in one afternoon. They aligned perfectly without any fiddling and the soft close worked out of the box. That experience changed my mind completely. Anyone else have a product they refused to use until they actually tried it?

Wait wait wait. "They aligned perfectly without any fiddling"? No way. I've installed cheap hinges before and spent an hour just getting the doors level. You're telling me these things just line up on their own? That's hard to believe. I figured all soft close hinges were overpriced junk, but you're making me think I need to try them on my own kitchen cabinets now. Did you have to do any prep work to the cabinets first or did they really just drop in that easy?

@bethj44 I swapped out old hinges for Blums on my own cabs and they lined up with zero adjustment.
