I finally stopped blaming my table saw for drift, it was my fence

Last month I was fighting a 3 foot piece of oak that kept coming out tapered no matter how careful I was. Turns out my fence was bowed out a 16th of an inch in the middle, I only caught it with a straightedge by accident. Has anyone else had a fence go bad without noticing, and how often do you check yours?
