Hot take: Those fancy edge banding glue systems are overrated.
I was skeptical of the whole iron-on edge banding thing for years. I always just used contact cement and a trim router, figured it was fine. Then a guy I sub for insisted I try his Virutex setup on a big job last month. I mean, the consistency was way better and no glue squeeze out to deal with. But for the price of that machine? I can do 5 kitchens with my old method and still pay myself. Am I the only one who thinks the old school way is fine for most work?

Bought one of those fancy glue machines a few years back thinking it would change my life. Spent more time cleaning the damn thing than actually using it. Ended up using contact cement and a router on the next three jobs anyway because the machine was acting up. Now it sits in the corner collecting dust like an expensive mistake. Old school works fine unless you're doing production runs where consistency actually matters.

Ain't that the truth. Sometimes the old ways are the best ways.
