Had to pick between soft-close hinges and standard ones for a kitchen job

Client wanted to save money. Standard hinges were $2 a pop. Soft-close were $6. I pushed for soft-close. Told him it's a kitchen you use every day. He agreed. Now his kid can't slam the doors. He thanked me last week. Anyone else fight this battle with budget-minded clients?

Tbh you see this everywhere now - people cheap out on the little things they use daily then wonder why their life is annoying. It's always worth spending a few bucks extra on stuff that touches your hands every single day.

Wait, doesn't saving a few bucks here and there add up to real money over time? I gotta push back on this. @jackson.kim, you're talking like everyone has that extra cash to throw around. Not all of us can drop premium prices on every single thing we touch. Sometimes cheap stuff works fine for years without falling apart. And honestly, most people are way more careful with their money than you're giving them credit for. The real waste is buying expensive stuff you're scared to actually use.
