Grain matching came out perfect on a walnut desk, but picking hinges has me stumped

After laying out the boards for three days, the top looks like one solid piece. I went with a simple wax finish to let the wood shine. Now I'm torn between European concealed hinges or butt hinges for a more traditional look. Which type do you find holds up better on heavy lids?

Those three days of grain matching created a visual flow you don't want to break. Concealed hinges disappear and keep that seamless look you worked so hard for, like the top is just floating on the base. Butt hinges, even nice ones, act like visual speed bumps on that long walnut line. For a heavy lid, the full overlay European hinges have a solid clip and you can adjust them in three ways to fight sag over time.

Butt hinges last longer on heavy lids though, don't they?

My DIY attempts would turn those speed bumps into a full car crash.
