Unpopular opinion: My boss was wrong about the new band saw blade

My boss at the shop in Tacoma insisted we switch to a specific 'premium' band saw blade, saying it would last twice as long on beef ribs. He told me, 'You'll get 800 cuts easy before it dulls.' I was skeptical but went along. After just 300 cuts on a case of short ribs, the blade was pulling and tearing the meat, not slicing clean. I had to stop and change it mid-job, which wasted time and messed up my rhythm. I think he got sold on the brand name without testing it on our specific workload. Now I'm back to the cheaper blades I trust, and they're holding up fine. Has anyone else had a boss push a tool that just didn't work for your daily grind?

Bosses get fixated on gear sometimes, it's not the end of the world. At least you figured it out quick and went back to what works for you. Maybe he just saw a shiny ad and got excited, happens to everyone. Not worth a big fight over a blade.

It's the same with phones and cars, people chase specs over what actually works for them.

That's super frustrating when a tool lets you down mid-job. Bosses can get sold on marketing over real results sometimes. Glad you went back to what you know works.
