That one week in July where everything went sideways at the cooler

We had a power flicker on a Tuesday and the walk-in hit 50 degrees before I noticed. Lost almost $800 worth of pork loins and a whole case of ribeyes. The smell was something I still can't shake... had to toss everything and scrub the floors for two days straight. Anyone else had a power issue ruin their whole week like that?

Oh man, that's brutal. Power flickers are the kitchen's version of getting ghosted before a big date. Nothing like the sweet perfume of rotting ribeye to really set the mood for a deep clean. I bet your floors were slicker than a politician's handshake after all that scrubbing. At least you got a good story out of it, plus a free lesson in why you never trust a breaker that's old enough to vote.

Actually, in my experience a breaker that old is usually fine as long as it's been maintained. The real issue is if it's a Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel those are the ones that are legit dangerous. Not saying your point doesn't stand though, older breakers can get finicky especially after a power surge.
