Switched to a bone saw for pork shoulders after a close call last month

I used to muscle through with a cleaver, but after a blade slipped and nicked my thumb joint on a Tuesday rush, I grabbed a cheap reciprocating saw attachment from the hardware store and never looked back. Anyone else made the switch for big cuts, or am I overthinking the risk?

Did you keep the cleaver around for smaller stuff, or did the bone saw fully replace it? I'm asking because I'm thinking about making the jump too, but I do a lot of chicken and rib racks where a cleaver feels quicker. That thumb thing sounds nasty, I had a knife skip off a frozen brisket once and it scared me straight for a week. The reciprocating saw seems like it vibrates a lot more though, does your hand get tired after a few big shoulders? I worry about control when the blade is going that fast, like what if it catches a bone weird and kicks back? Serious question, because I'm this close to buying one but want to know if the learning curve is worth it before I drop the cash.
