Hot take: I just spent 4 hours trying to get a clean split on a 14-bone prime rib rack because I was stubborn about my old saw.

It was for a big catering order in Denver. My go-to band saw blade felt a little dull, but I thought 'it's fine, I've done this a thousand times.' Ended up with ragged cuts, wasted trim, and had to stop, drive to the supply house for a new blade, and start over. The whole job took twice as long as it should have. When do you guys usually swap blades? Is there a telltale sign you look for, or do you just change them on a set schedule?

Four hours and a trip to the supply house seems like a lot. It's just a saw blade, not a heart transplant. A ragged cut on some prime rib isn't the end of the world, you know? You just trim it up and move on. People get too hung up on perfect tools. Sometimes you just push through and finish the job.
