Update: guy at the coffee shop saw my bujo and asked if I was 'still doing the paper thing'
I was journaling at a cafe in Portland last Tuesday and the guy next to me watched me fill in my weekly log for like 5 minutes. Then he goes 'my sister tried that, she quit after 2 weeks, it's kinda pointless now with apps right?' and I just shrugged, but it bugged me the whole walk home. Like yeah I could use an app, but writing out my tasks by hand is the only reason I actually remember half of them. Curious if anyone here has a quick comeback for the 'why not just use your phone' crowd, cause I froze up and had nothing.
Dude at the Stumptown on Division asked me the exact same thing in January, right after I'd spent 20 minutes drawing out my habit tracker for the month. I told him my phone has 47 notifications a day and I ignore every single one, but a paper page doesn't buzz at me, it just sits there looking sad until I fill it in. That's the whole thing, apps are too easy to swipe away. My paper journal has never once texted me back or tried to sell me a premium plan for $7.99 a month. The guy just nodded and went back to his latte.
