I switched from one giant yearly bujo to a tiny pocket notebook and my whole system finally works
I used to buy a nice $25 hardcover journal in January and by March it was half empty because I was scared to mess up the pretty pages. Now I carry a cheap $6 pocket notebook from the drugstore and burn through one every 6 weeks or so, and I actually use it. The big change happened after I skipped 9 days straight in April and realized a bulky book at home just wasn't coming with me to work. My rapid logging is messier but I don't miss tasks anymore since it's always in my back pocket. Does anyone else use a small notebook instead of the classic one-book setup, and how do you handle your monthly pages?
Went through the same thing a couple years back. Had a nice leather cover and everything, then stopped opening it by February because I didn't want to "ruin" it with scribbles. Switched to those cheap composition books from the dollar store and never looked back. For monthly pages, I stopped making a full spread. Now I just write the month at the top of a fresh page and list the dates down the side with a few lines each. Takes two minutes instead of twenty, and if I skip a week nobody cares because the whole book cost a buck. The messy version is the one that actually gets used, and that's the only test that matters.
