PSA: My old obsession with designer water bottles was a budget black hole
I used to think having the latest trendy water bottle was a must, so I'd grab a new one every time I saw a cool color or feature. One of my favorites was this sparkly one that cost me $40, and I only used it twice because it leaked everywhere, which was pretty dumb. I even had a phase where I believed bottled water from fancy brands tasted better, so I'd buy it daily instead of using my tap. Then I added up all those small purchases and saw I was blowing like $30 a week on water and bottles, which is insane for something that's basically free. Now, I just fill up a basic reusable bottle from home, and I've saved enough in six months to buy a nice guitar I've wanted forever. It's wild how much money I wasted on something so simple, and my wallet is way happier now, lol.

My friend Jamie dropped like $55 on a Hydro Flask with a special limited edition pattern last year. She carried it everywhere for two weeks until she realized it was a pain to wash because of the narrow opening, so it just sat on her counter growing weird film. She finally admitted that her old plastic bottle from a 5k race worked just as well and the fancy water she was buying tasted the same as her fridge filter. I mean, she felt pretty dumb for spending that much on something that basically holds tap water.

Honestly it's just a water bottle though lol. People get way too worked up about what other folks buy with their own money.
