My utility bill leak took me 18 months to track down

I kept seeing my water bill creep up month after month, like $15 to $20 extra each time. Thought it was just rate hikes or my kid taking longer showers. After 18 months of frustration, I finally found a tiny leak in the main line under my front yard. A plumber fixed it for $200 and now my bill is back to normal, saving me like $40 a month. Has anyone else dealt with a hidden leak that took forever to find?

You sure it was actually a leak though? Lots of times those $15 bumps are just the water company testing new rates or your meter going bad. Could have saved yourself $200 and 18 months of stress if you just called the utility first instead of assuming you had a hidden pipe problem.
