Vent: got burned by a "free" walking tour in Rome and lost 60 euros
Went to Rome two weeks ago and joined one of those free walking tours near the Pantheon, the guy spent 40 minutes hyping some skip the line Vatican tickets and then pushed us to a shop where a "discount" pass ran 60 euros. I found out later the real ticket office sells the same thing for 20. Has anyone else run into this, and is there a way to spot these setups before you're stuck in the group?
Wait, did the guy ever actually mention the tickets before you all started walking, or did he just spring it on the group once you were stuck in the middle of it?
