My buddy swore by staying in hostels but man was I wrong about them

So my friend Mike kept telling me hostels are the way to go for saving money on trips. I always thought they were just dirty rooms with bunk beds and no privacy. Finally gave in on a trip to Nashville last spring. Booked a private room at a place called The Dive Motel for $45 a night. Honestly it was cleaner than most hotels I've stayed at. Had a shared kitchen and met some cool people from Germany who showed me a bunch of cheap eats around town. Whole weekend cost me under $200 including gas. Anyone else had a change of heart about something they thought they'd hate?

My old roommate swore up and down that those meal prep subscription boxes were a waste. I finally tried one after a bad breakup when I couldn't even look at a grocery store. Ended up finding this frozen mac and cheese brand I still buy at Target three years later. Sometimes you just have to let go of your pride and try the thing your friend keeps pushing. That Nashville trip sounds like a steal by the way, did you get to see any live music?

Similar thing happened to me. I was stubborn about those meal kits until a friend basically forced me to try one and now I actually enjoy cooking on weeknights again. @the_sandra you're right that sometimes the stuff we're pushed into turns out to be pretty solid once we give it a shot.
