Crossed the border 3 times before I learned the bus trick

I travel between San Diego and Tijuana a lot for cheap dental work and tacos. The line to walk across can be 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon. Took me way longer than I want to admit to figure out the CBX bridge from the airport. You fly into TIJ, take the pedestrian bridge to the US side, and it costs like $18 one way. The first time I tried it, I paid $30 for a taxi that dropped me at the wrong terminal. Now I just book flights into Tijuana even when I'm going to San Diego, the fares are usually $80 cheaper anyway. Has anyone else found weird border crossing hacks that save time and cash?

Did you ever try just parking on the US side and walking over through the old pedestrian crossing near the trolley station? I found that one after wasting a whole afternoon stuck in the main line. It’s not fancy, but it’s free and usually moves way faster than the big gates. The trick is getting there early in the morning, like before 8am, or you’re back to waiting with everyone else. Also, I learned the hard way to always carry exact change for the turnstile, those machines eat dollar bills like they’re lunch. It’s not a hack that saves you cash, but it saves me an hour of standing around on a good day.
