The $9 bag of lentils that became my emergency dinner plan

Last Tuesday I got stuck at the shop an hour late and had zero energy to cook, so I dumped a cup of dried lentils from my pantry into a pot with some garlic powder and a can of diced tomatoes. Twenty minutes later I had enough decent food for three meals, and that whole bag cost me $9 at the local Aldi. Does anyone else keep a low-effort backup like this for those days when takeout would normally win?
