Shoutout to the $0.62 breakfast I wrote off for a decade
I always figured oatmeal was just sad food for sad mornings, but last week I ran the math on my grocery receipt and it hit me. A 42 oz canister of store brand oats at Food Lion was $4.19, and that works out to about 30 servings, so roughly 14 cents a bowl. Add a spoon of peanut butter and half a banana and I'm still under 62 cents total. I was spending $4.50 on a sausage biscuit combo four mornings a week, which is $18 a week, which is $936 a year. I've been eating the oats for 9 days straight now and I genuinely feel better in the mornings too. Anyone got a cheap way to make them not taste like paste by day 4? I'm running out of ideas past cinnamon.
