Honestly, I've seen guys get way too hung up on the fancy gear. My old mentor did foundations for forty years with a string line, a plumb bob, and his eyes. That laser level is great until the battery dies on site or it gets a knock. Sometimes the old way, where you have to really look and think, makes you double check your work in a way a dot on the wall doesn't.
