Question about spending 30 bucks on a hawk vs a cheaper one
I picked up a Marshalltown mortar hawk for 30 dollars after burning through three of the cheap plastic ones in six months. The handle actually stays tight on this one, anyone else notice a real difference with the pricier brand?

Wait, is it really that deep? I get being annoyed with cheap stuff breaking, but spending 30 bucks on a hawk feels like a flex for something that just holds mortar. You probably could've just tightened the handle on the plastic ones with some tape or something.

Ha, nah I get what you're saying but honestly tape never held for me. I tried wrapping the handles on those cheap plastic hawks with electrical tape and duct tape before. They'd still twist or split after a few uses, especially with heavy mortar. For me it was one of those "buy nice or cry twice" situations where the 30 dollar one actually saved me time and frustration in the long run. Plus my hands didn't hurt as bad at the end of the day.
