Bought a $300 laser level for a chimney rebuild and it was a total waste
I was doing a big chimney job in Springfield last month and figured a DeWalt DW088K laser level would save me hours. It kept losing its calibration every time I moved it on the scaffold, so I ended up just using my old 4-foot level and string lines anyway. Has anyone had good luck with a different brand that can handle being moved around a lot?

Ever try the Huepar self-leveling cross line laser? I beat the hell out of mine on framing jobs, tossing it in the tool bag and moving it all over rough floors. That thing takes a knock and just keeps its line. It's not fancy but it stays put.

Man, that's a familiar story. I had the same exact problem with a Bosch model on a foundation job, it just wouldn't hold a line after being jostled. I went back to my trusty old stabila level and a chalk line too, felt like I threw money away.
