Decided to try soap carving after doing whittling for 6 months. SO much better.

Three weeks in and my soap already looks like a sad little lump of cheese. I don't get the hype about it being better than whittling when soap is so soft it just crumbles if you breathe on it wrong. Whittling gives you real feedback, you know, like the wood actually holds a shape. Soap just feels like a cheater's way to carve with zero challenge. I tried a cheap bar from the grocery store and ended up with more flakes than anything that looks like art. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong but it seems like everyone acts like it's this huge upgrade when it's really just a softer material that falls apart faster.

Honestly, it's like people get obsessed with the "easy version" of everything now. Same thing with those meal delivery kits that are basically just dumping pre-chopped stuff in a pan. Yeah it's less hassle but you're not actually learning to cook, you know?
