Compared my grandpa's 1970s slide rule to a calculator app for a week of woodworking math

Found his old bamboo slide rule in a box last month. Decided to use it for all my project measurements for a week, just to see. Turns out it's faster for quick ratios and rough cuts, plus it never dies. The app is still better for trig and conversions, but I kept reaching for the slide rule by day four. Anyone else dig out an old tool and find it beats the modern version for certain tasks?
