Unpopular opinion: my monstera almost died because I followed a plant app instead of just looking at it
I had my monstera in a north window in our Denver apartment and the app kept telling me to water it every 6 days, so I did, and within 3 weeks the lower leaves turned yellow and mushy at the base. I finally pulled it out of the pot, saw the roots were brown and soft, cut off about half of them with clean scissors, and moved it to a chunkier mix in a terra cotta pot by the east window. Has anyone else had a plant app give them bad info, or is it just me not knowing how to read the soil?

Used to trust those apps. Not anymore, soil tells you more.
