That one orchid I spent 6 months trying to revive

I found a nearly dead phalaenopsis orchid at a garage sale in Portland last summer for a dollar, and I figured I could nurse it back to health in a few weeks. Six months later, after trying different soils, light levels, and watering schedules, I finally got a single new leaf to grow. Has anyone else spent way too long trying to save a plant that probably cost less than a coffee?

Reminds me of how we'll fix an old blender before spending twenty bucks on a new one.

Right, that old blender is like my mom's sewing machine from the 70s. Still going strong because she just oils it and replaces a belt when it snaps. Why mess with a good thing, you know?
