I finally fell for that $50 'smart' plant pot scam

Ngl, I bought one of those self-watering pots with the app that tells you when to water. After 3 months the sensor died and my fern was soaked. Has anyone else had these things just stop working?

My buddy got the same one and his fern ended up the same way, totally waterlogged. He just uses a regular old watering can now and his plants are fine.

Oh man, I totally get what your buddy went through. Those fancy self-watering pots are such a gimmick if you ask me. A plain old watering can is way more reliable and you can actually see what's happening with the soil. Plus it's cheaper and you don't have to worry about some plastic gizmo breaking on you.
