I chose a $45 grow light over a $200 one and my seedlings got better

Everyone in this group swears by the high-end LED panels, so when I set up my basement seed starting station in February, I bought a cheaper blurple fixture from a local hydroponics shop in Columbus instead. Three weeks in, my tomatoes and peppers are stockier and darker green than last year's crop under the expensive rig, and I honestly think the lower intensity made them stretch less in that cold room. Has anyone else had better results with budget lights once they adjusted the height or timing, or am I just getting lucky with this batch?
