Hot take: The plant swap at the community center almost ruined my whole collection

I brought home a beautiful philodendron from the swap in Greenville, and within a week, I found spider mites on three of my other plants. I had to isolate everything and treat them with neem oil for a solid month. Does anyone have a good quarantine routine for new plants?

My quarantine routine is basically a two week prison sentence in my bathroom. I keep new plants in the shower stall away from everyone else. I still managed to bring home a scale bug from a nursery last year that took out my favorite fern. I'm clearly not the guy to ask for foolproof advice.

That scale bug got me too, but neem oil saved my other plants.
