A stranger at the arboretum said my ferns looked happy, that hit different

I was watering the staghorn collection at Descanso Gardens on Tuesday and this older guy asked what I fed them, so I told him about my banana peel soak routine, and he just nodded and said 'they can tell you care,' which sounds silly but I've been second guessing my whole setup for 6 months and that one sentence made me trust my own hands again, has anyone else gotten a weird confidence boost from a random comment like that?

Three staghorns in and I still haven't found a stranger willing to compliment my spider plants, so congrats on the free therapy.
