When my press pivot pin sheared mid-textblock

Last Tuesday I was nipping a 400 page textblock in my book press and the pivot pin just snapped, sending the whole top platen sideways onto my bench. Nothing was ruined, but I lost the afternoon figuring out a temporary fix with a carriage bolt and some washers from my toolbox. Has anyone else had a press part fail like this, and did you end up replacing the whole unit or finding a proper replacement part?
