My backing boards went wavy after 2 weeks in a damp garage

I moved my press setup into the shed to free up shelf space and the humidity did a number on my 12" boards, they look like potato chips now. Has anyone else had this happen with cheaper board, or should I just bite the bullet and get the archival stuff?

Congrats, you've now got premium potato chip boards, just add salt and call them artisanal.

Ha, exactly. I did the same thing with a $300 "premium" cutting board last year and it warped in a month. Salt and a fancy name really does wonders for the price tag.
