Watched the new 'Dune' movie after reading the book for the first time last month and my brain is still processing.

I thought the visuals would be the best part, but the movie actually made me understand the political stuff in the book way better, which I totally didn't expect, so now I'm curious if anyone else had a movie clarify a confusing book for them?

Which political part clicked for you in the movie?

Honestly the whole campaign office scene felt way too real. That part where they're just spinning bad news into a win, you know? Seen that play out in real life and it just makes you groan. The movie got that frantic, messy energy perfect. Makes you wonder how much of what we see is just that, a story someone needs to tell. Kinda takes the shine off the whole process.

... and that whole thing with the water economy in the book? I had to re-read that part like three times. But the movie just shows people crying and recycling suits and I was like oh, duh, it's about control, not just survival. It's funny how good visual storytelling can fill in the gaps your brain skips over when reading. Reminds me of when I watched The Social Network after trying to read that Facebook book years ago. Suddenly all the legal stuff and code arguments made sense because you could see the tension. Reading is great and all but sometimes a movie just bangs the point home better.
