My rule for watching an adaptation: read the book first, never the other way around
I watched the Netflix version of a book last fall and then tried to go back and read it, and I could not stop picturing the casting choices in my head, which killed the fun of building the characters myself. Now I flip it: book first, then the screen version, and I treat the movie as a bonus visit to a world I already know. Does anyone else find that order changes how much you enjoy the adaptation, or is it just me?
