Our club spent 11 months in one genre and it almost broke us
For two years our Tuesday night club in Dayton read nothing but literary fiction, and attendance dropped from 9 people to 4 because nobody felt like arguing about another sad family saga. In January we switched to mixing it up, one thriller, one nonfiction, one classic every three months, and now we actually fight about books instead of just nodding along. Does anyone else rotate genres, or did you find a different fix for the mid-meeting slump?
