Unpopular opinion: the old timer who said 'learn the math, not just the wrench' was right
Sat with Ray, a 30 year tube man out of Gary, at lunch on a job in Toledo and he made me work out a rolling offset on paper before he'd let me touch the bender. I thought it was a waste of a break until I realized I'd been guessing at angles and eating the extra cuts. He said the guys who last 20 years know why the number works, not just which button to push. Anybody here still keep a notebook of offset formulas, or is it all apps now?
