Passed my first 6G pipe test on the third try and I still can't believe the root held
I've been practicing in my garage in Toledo for about 5 months, mostly on scrap 2 inch pipe, and I kept failing the bend test on the root. My instructor kept telling me my travel speed was too fast at the bottom, but I didn't get it until I slowed way down and watched the puddle actually wet in. Passed with just one tiny mark that was within code. For the guys who test regularly, do you change anything about your root pass when the pipe is cold versus warmed up?
Not trying to rain on your parade but does it really matter that much if the pipe is cold or warm? Maybe on a real job when you're doing 50 joints in a day the heat carryover helps, but in a test booth you're doing one joint and the inspector doesn't care how you got there. The root either passes the bend or it doesn't. Idk, feels like guys overthink the warm pipe thing when the real fix is just slowing down like your instructor said. Seems like you already found the thing that actually mattered.
