My first foreman's 'creative' solution for moving heavy plates without a crane

I mean, back in the day, we didn't always have cranes on every site. One job, my foreman hooked a come-along to his old pickup to drag a big steel plate. The truck's bumper ripped right off, and we had to finish by hand. Now, with all the safety stuff, you'd get fired for even trying that, but it was kind of funny at the time.

It's wild how many shortcuts just make way more work for you later.

Ever tried to skip writing comments in your code? Six months later you're staring at your own work like it's ancient hieroglyphics, wasting an entire afternoon just figuring out what past you was even trying to do. Or that "quick fix" for a leaky pipe with some extra tape always, always blows up on a Sunday when no hardware stores are open. The extra hour you "saved" usually costs you a whole weekend later.
