Talking to a potter friend made me reconsider my hammer control

She said 'you're not hitting the clay, you're guiding it,' and that idea of pressure over force really clicked for my steel work too. Anyone else find inspiration for their technique from a totally different craft?

What if it's not just hitting stuff though? You're shaping it, @iris_jones89... making something new from what was there before.
